HOLA FAMILIA!!!
I am super super super happy to finally get on a computer! haha I am doing great here in the MTC! The first day was way fun and not stressful at all. My companion is HERMANA STARK!! haha so cool! I knew I was going to have someone that I heard about before going into the MTC. She is way awesome. Love her! We room with two other hermanas, Hermana Haglund and Shaffer. I love them both! We all have a blast with each other. I feel like we are in a group of four instead of just our companions. We do everything together. I am so grateful that I have such awesome roommates and companion :) Our teacher is Hermano Doxey. LOVE HIM! He is hilarious and of course hasn't said a word in english since we got here but I pretty much understand everything he says. He is really good at speaking slowly and repeating everything he says at least three times haha I LOVE MY DISTRICT! At first the Elders were a little shy and quiet and I could tell they were super overwhelmed but they are now way hilarious and social. We have six Elders in our District. A total of 10 of us. It's pretty small but I love all of them. We are a dang good looking district!! ;) Our Branch Presidency are the nicest people on the planet and their wives all gave us hugs and made me teary eyed because they are like our "moms." It was great to have a hug from them. Miss you mom!! :)
Day 2 and 3 were SOOOO stressful, not gonna lie haha Our entire district had to teach our first investigator on Day 2...in Spanish...shoot me in the face...but it went ok haha. Hermana Stark and I were stressing out a little bit and didn't know how we were going to teach a ten minute lesson when we had zero spanish taught to us. Luckily, both of us have had some high school spanish background so we whipped out some previous knowledge to help us. I never thought high school spanish would be useful...so listen up in Spanish class, Camo!! You never know when you have to use it in the mission ;) So our first lesson went pretty bad haha Any spanish I knew just went straight out the window and Her. Stark and I were just totally frozen after the investigator, Isabel, talked to us. (He is a guy by the way haha) He talked SO FAST!! I bet that was even slow for him too! Man, I have so much to learn. We got by ok in the lesson trying to teach him about faith. We have to teach him again today (day 4) and this time it has to be a 15 minute lesson. We are going to talk to him about prayer and how to pray. I really hope we do better this time. It seems like the rest of our district felt the same way about their first lesson. Especially the Elders, hahaha. They were HILARIOUS after they got done with theirs. Elder Hall said he had no idea if they even taught him anything. My favorite line from him, "I wish I would've at least accidently called him Satan because at least I would've said SOMETHING!!" haha, love that kid. We have a blast together.
Other than sucking at Spanish and having no idea what anyone is saying to us, the MTC is pretty fun. The sleeping schedule doesn't bother me at all. I get tired every now and then but we have no time to even think about being tired. Everything is so fast paced...even singing hyms is like a race. We have to sing as fast as we can!! It's freakin crazy haha but I'm loving it. I really really hope I pick up Spanish soon. I can tell I am going to have a hard time with it. I have no idea how Sean even learned Polish! I always think about that. How on earth do missionaries speak those crazy languages! Same with Jake and Japense! INSANE!!! I figure if you guys and thousands of other of missionaries are able to learn those psychotic languages, then I can learn this simple little language that is pretty much just like English. Our Zone Leaders...also freaking hilarious and adorable...they told us that we shouldn't complain about learning Spanish. We should be grateful that we don't have to speak a crazy Asian or weird made up language that I've never heard of. So I am VERY GRATEFUL for that haha. I cannot WAIT for the gift if tongues to kick in. But I'm guessing that won't happen till like month 12 of my mission...if that.
I miss you family!!! AND friends!! I haven't had a chance to write anyone back yet so be patient :) I'll get letters sent out by Monday hopefully. I love you all and I think about you like every ten minutes of the day. I am doing super well though. Oh but the MTC food...gross. I barely eat anything. So don't worry about me gaining weight. No chance in heck that that is happening haha I LOOOVE my work out time that we get every day. Her. Haglund and I work out together because we like doing the same stuff. Her. Stark hates working out hahahaha but she is freaking the skinniest person alive!! I swear she never eats anything, I'm working on her ;) We get along so great. She's 23 and from Ogden. The other hermanas (shaffer and Haglund) are both BYU graduates and are 22/23 ish. So I am the youngest!! I always am haha I'm also the senior companion in our companionship but that basically means nothing haha. I kinda felt like I already took charge of our companionship because she kinda waits for me to tell her what to do. I'm not used to being the leader but it's good practice for me. Anyways, I have like five minutes left. My Pdays are FRIDAY by the way. Today is our half Pday...more like 2 hour Pday, but that's ok. Hermana Stark and I have so much to do to practice our Spanish and teach this impossible lesson tonight. Kill me haha I am so bad at Spanish!!
