It.is.so.cold!!! - Jan 28, 2013

Hey Family!!
Well this week was the longest and coldest week of my life! haha We were on bike in the hurricane rain and winds. I got super sick with the fever and missed a few hours of work and felt awful for not working. I had bad chills and wanted to die. BUT, we still had like one super cool miracle....
We had a member with us and the lady we were going to teach wasn't there...shocker there....and so we just decided to take the member we had and visit this family that is NEVER there and if they are there, they usually just turn us away. I was kinda thinking, what's the point of going to this family's house with a member when we both know that they won't be there. But alas, Hna Sanchez always has the Spirit with her so we decided to go with this family. BOOM. Miracle...the mom opens the door with the biggest smile ever and just has us come in immediately and offers us food and drinks and is the nicest person on the planet. Both of us were like, ummm what on earth is going on. Then her cousin and son walked in the door and were so happy to see us and just sat down and we all had the most spiritual time together. Oh my heck. It was just insane. The member we had shared an amazing story about her conversion as a teenager and we talked a lot about eternal families. The mom told us about her super cool dream she had when she was about to get married to someone. GET THIS, I didn't quite understand her dream BUT her dream told her to not marry this guy and to wait for another guy that she hasn't met yet. So, she broke it off with this guy and found her husband that she has now AND also her dream told her that there was something missing from her life. Hna sanchez and I were thinking that it's the temple and eternal marriage!! So that was such a tender mercy and we needed that lesson so bad because we both were feeling super down about our area and not having any success.
Sad story...the epic first lesson we had with Dunia...well she told us that she doesnt want any lessons because she likes being Catholic. We know that it's her super crazy catholic mom talking bad about us. We were way sad about that, so it was super nice to have this great experience with this family!
Funny/sad-ish story: I had to eat pieces of cooked fat from a chicken or something...yeah I threw it all up about 2 minutes after we left the members' house. I was DYING during the dinner. It was just so chewy and you pretty much just had to swallow it whole. I was gagging and tried so hard to keep it down for just that hour of being with them. The mom was so sweet and was really hoping that we liked it. Sanchez thought it tasted super good. That girl is crazy. She will eat cooked dog poop and think that it's the greatest thing ever. Crazy Espanola! So yeah, lots of being sick this week and trying to not die in the rain.
EVEN FUNNIER STORY: I have been proposed to once by a 15 yr old that is like 6.5 ft tall. Then I had two moms on separate occasions tell me to marry there sons. One of them brought their son out and kept saying, "look mija, a super bonita girl that knows spanish and has good standards! Nothing like your girflfriend now." Oh my gosh, super awkward and the guy was not very happy with his mom hahaha I felt super bad and super awkward. Soooo, it's been the weirdest week ever!
my MTC comp, Hna stark got her visa and left for Spain this week :( I would see her every pday at walmart so now I am super sad and I miss her like crazy. My visa will probably be another 1-2 months...or longer...who knows. Visas are the dumbest thing ever. Never get called somewhere where you need a visa...it's stressful and a terrible distraction.
ANyways, hope everyone has a great week! I will find out this saturday if I am getting transfered to another area. It is VERY likely that I will get transfered because I'm a visa waiter but we'll see...love you family!!

Hna Daly

Summer during the Winter - Jan 21, 2013

Wasuuuup Family!!

Man, you poor little freezing people!! It is practically summer here in the beautiful wintery Arizona and I am LOVIN it! This week has been...average-ish. I am getting pretty dang good at drawing elephants and dogs for the 4 psychotic kids we have to babysit during ALL THREE HOURS of Church. Shoot me in the face. These kids need to go. They are Jaunita's grandkids (the one we just baptized) and she usually has them on Sundays and they REFUSE to go to Primary. So now it is our job to sit and draw pictures with them and beg them to stop screaming during all three hours. They are slowly getting better but it makes me so sad that I can never listen to what is being taught during the whole three hours. I just draw pictures while the kids climb all over me. Suuuuper fun. Didn't know that this would be a sister missionary's job. But that's ok! I am only upset like 50% of the time during Church haha. Our baptismal date investigator, Jorge, never came to Church. Ugghhhhh. He was "sick." Man, it's a constant battle getting him to Church. Lots of work to do with him.

We had a pretty cool experience with a new investigator, Dunia. We had a first lesson with her and we were teaching her how to pray towards the end of the lesson and while we were teaching her, I just kept thinking about how sad it is that there are SO MANY people that have never really talked to their Heavenly Father before. It's so sad! So, we were teaching her how to do it and invited her to pray and like always the people get really nervous and don't want to pray. But, we kept assuring her that it's super easy and that Heavenly Father wants to hear from her, yata yata yata and then she finally decided to pray and she just starting BAWLING. We were all kneeling down and she was just crying and crying and was trying to pray for her kids and her family. It was the sweetest prayer ever. After the prayer, she was super happy and just kept hugging us and was so happy and wanted us to come back immediately. It was AMAZING. For some reason we didn't invite her to be baptized....oops. We are so bad at asking that during the first lesson and we're supposed to do it. We have a lesson with her TODAY! I will update you next week about her :)

Our cool 18 yr old investigator, Javier, just moved to another part of Mesa so we have to get different missionaries to teach him. Dang it. He was super cool and hope he gets baptized soon. We got to do some service for a member in our ward and we wore JEANS! YES JEANS! Greatest feeling in the world. We cleaned out this disgusting room and now it's spotless :) we organized and cleaned this laundry room.

My legs are pretty beefy and muscular now. I could probably go hit up a biking marathon with Aunt Christine and Uncle Chris ;) All of our investigators are sloooooowly progressing. Aaaaand, yeah :) That's all I got for this week. Thank you for the super super awesome letters!! I love all of you so so so so much!!! Please dont die from the cold :) love you all!

January 14 - It's Cold!!!

Hey my little freezing family :)
haha I cannot believe how cold it is up there in Idaho and Utah!!! What is going on?? Well let me tell you. It's like 30 degrees here at night and that is just not fun to be in a skirt and on a bike. Anyways, this week has been like the worst haha well, not the worst, but we just had barely any lessons. We DID have some little cool miracles though with just doing TTI's on the street (teach testify invite). We got two new investigators that seem cool. However, they are never home and we thought they were super interested...so we'll see what happens with them.
My favorite investigator in the world is FINALLY getting ready for baptism!! He's been taught for like 6 months and has had like 2 baptism dates but he just never gets baptized. His name his Jorge and he is the BOMB! He's like 37 ish, has a little 6 year old girl who is the CUTEST thing in the world and she loves me :) So, Jorge has been drinking and smoking most his life but he is super nice and funny and has TONS of friends. Super social. We committed him to stop drinking and smoking and he hasn't done either of them in like a week! He says that he doesn't even feel like he's having withdrawals. SO AWESOME! He's such a stud. He has a date for Feb 16?? Somethin like that...and he went to church for the first time in 6 months and loved it. Better yet, his daughter LOVED it and wanted to stay and sing more primary songs haha, she is so dang cute :) So that was a good thing that happened this week.
hahaha ok, so this one time we were just biking and trying to find a new investigator. We saw these two kids just playing in the front yard and the mom came out to get them back inside. She was just going about her business and slowly getting her kids to come inside...and then...she sees us...biking towards her... and she just SPRINTS! She grabs her kids by the neck and just runs inside and slams the door shut. hahahaha I was just DYING laughing. Oh my gosh, funniest thing ever. People go to some serious extremes to avoid us. Love it :)
We didn't eat anything crazy this week, SCORE! We actually have had the most delicious mexican food in the world this week. Some members are just the greatest cookers in the world. SO GOOD! I love the members in this branch like crazy. There are like 12 families in the branch and they are so awesome and united! I LOVE THEM! They are my family. I don't want to leave them. They are what keeps me going.
That's all I have to say this week! Nothing too super cool happened. OH!! GUESS WHAT! I got called a lazy American girl. YEAH! Seriously. This hispanic, Imelda, she is becoming one of our investigators...well she is an investigator but doesn't really know it haha...anyways, she is kinda crazy but cool at the same time. She has good standards and tries to live a good life. BUT, this one day she looks at me and says, "are you lazy? Because EVERY american girl is lazy and they do nothing all day." She was mostly joking...but not really. Hna Sanchez was just laughing it up. Ridiculous. yeah yeah, SOME American girls are lazy but NOT ME! sheesh, rude. haha that's ok, she's super cool still. But I did have a minor outburst after with Hna Sanchez about how I'm not lazy and how there are tons of American girls who are hard workers. It was kinda funny. I haven't gotten that upset since being here in the mission. Weird!! It felt good ;)
ok, gotta go!! love you all! Have an AWESOME WEEEEK! STAY WARM!

Jan 7, 2013....."should we knock again?"

OYE mi familia bonita!!
How is everyone?? I miss you all so much! This week has been super miracle-y and awesome yet super not miracle-y and super not awesome haha. Let's start off when the miracle story...
Me and Sanchy were going to knock on the door of this lady that we talked to the other day and we could tell that she was sooooo not interested haha but we didn't care, we went to knock again anyways. We knock on the door and this little girl opens it and tells us that her mom (the lady) wasn't there. So we decided to just move on and knock the door next to her because we though that we knew the people that lived in the one next to the lady's. Alas, no one opened the door but we saw the lady quietly walk by us to get into her house hahaha. We laughed silently and then Hna Sanchez asked me, "should we knock the lady's door again now that she is home? ....or is it awkward now?" I just laughed and though for a second and said, "why not, lets do it! I don't care if she hates us." So we knock again...guess what....this awesome young 18 year old guy-Javier answers. He was like, "hey! my mom told me not to open the door but I opened it anyways cuz I wanted to see why." haha we ended up teaching the first lesson about the Restauration and gave him a book of mormon and he was just SUPER COOL! He sounded way interested and wanted to know more. (this is all in english btw). YAYYY MIRACLE! we continue to teach him...in english...we may have to transfer him to the english elders...daaaang it!!! We give away all of our golden people to the Elders.
We found SEVEN NEW INVESTIGATORS this week! SEVEN! yeah, that does not happen. Sadly enough, like 4 of them are English so we gave them away to the Elders....grrrrrr!! But, the other 3 are people cool. It all came because Sanchy and I talked to EVERY PERSON in our path has we rode our bikes. mostly Sanchy lead the way. She is so cool. Hardest working missionary ever and we still have so much together. It's a good balance :)
On Sunday (yesterday) we had a fireside for the Branch and all of us 4 sisters spoke at it! It was super fun! We talked about the family mission plan and we tried to get the members excited. My segment was pretty bomb. I said something like this, "HERMANOS Y HERMANAS! are you excited for fam mission plan?! YEAH! Ok here is an example of what could happen from doing this. You invite your friend to the VC and they gladly accept. They go with you and they end up LOVING IT and they are crying because they feel the spirit and they want to be baptized immediately and it's like the best day of their life!! YES! Then us cute missionaries meet up with your family and you tell us of your experience and we get your friend baptized! YAYYY!"
Yup, that's pretty much how it was...in Spanish...That's how it went in my head anyways...who knows if they were laughing at my story of me speaking spanish...who knows haha. That was way fun
The down side to the week: We had zero investigators at church AND I HAD TO EAT LOBSTER...HISPANIC LOBSTER! it was the grossest thing I have ever eaten in my entire life...yeah I know, I'm a sheltered child. It was this big nasty lobster soup WITH THE ACTUAL LOBSTER CRAP CHOPPER...thingy in the soup, just sticking out and wanting to pinch my face. I wanted to die. I absolutely hate fish and anything to do with the sea. I had to force it down while shoving chips down right after so I wouldn't have to taste it. I mostly swallowed it whole because I hate the texture. ohhhh mannnnnn so bad! It was pretty funny after though.
So it was an interesting week :) Sanchy and Daly continue to try to baptize everyone in the Mesa Grande area...GO SPAIN! us spaniards are pretty dang cool.
I LOVE YOU ALL!! Briana and Cheri, I LOVED THE LETTER!!! I was crying I loved it so much. THANK YOU! I will write you two soon :) love you all, have a great weeek!!!!
