Feliz Semana Santa!! - March 25, 2013

HEYYY EVERYONE!!

Feliz Semana Santa!! It is the Holy Week here in Spain instead of Easter and I am scared to death!! haha I don't want to see the scary parades of huge crosses with Christ on it...No me gusta para nada. I hope it isn't too bad here in Almería because it's just a small city. Málaga is gonna be so sketch though. We are actually going to Málaga this week for a conference and I'm stoked! That means we get to hang out with Hna Brimhall again!!! YAYYYYY!! Trio reunited! SCORE!

So this week was soooo slow. Holy heck. AND I have been rejected so hard core this week by the Europeans. Dang these people can be brutal. Every single contact I did this week on the street was a slap in the face haha. I had about 3 people that shook their finger RIGHT in my face and said nothing and zoomed past me. Hna Martín, however, thought it was the funniest thing ever. She would just laugh and then give me a hug and laugh some more. I would just be like, "allllriiiighty then, you just missed out on the GREATEST MESSAGE EVER! Take LUCK! (Bryan Regan)" So yeah, it was quite the week. We just roamed the streeets alllll week and I have learned that the Spaniards are OBSESSED with Adele. They play her little fire rain song like 80 times a day up and down the streets. I am going to burn that song. haha jk, it's just super funny. I also learned while walking on the streets (of Loreno...Wedding Planner reference) that I am the worst with a map. We use our huge touristy map everywhere we go. We have been trying to contact Antiguos...old investigators and they live in the sketchiest places!

STORY TIME! OH MY GOSH oh my gosh oh my gosh. You will NOT believe what happened to us poor little hermanas. Oh my gosh get ready. So we were trying to find this antiguo lady one night and she lived in this building that looked like it was from 21 AD...it was just so old and so gross and we were like...allrighty then, lets not get kidnapped tonight. We knock on her disgusting wooden door with no handle and this little old lady that looks exactly like the crazy Gothem witch lady on enchanted...when she's ugly and has no flower magic...and she had a mole on her chin with hair and was like, "woah, hello guapas, wow, sois muy guapas. Pasen, Pasen"....we were like, ummm we havent even said a word and she was like COME IN! So we couldnt say no. We go in and just try and picture this: little rats running EVERYWHERE I saw like 12 just running across this spacious room with one little light bulb and a half eaten cow leg on the table. Then there were cockroaches eeeeevvverywhere. On the sofas, on the food, everywhere. We were like, oh my gosh, get us out of here. We ended up talking to her for FIFTEEN TORTEROUS MINUTES!! ohhhhh my gosh. We just said like a quick prayer and just jetted out of there so fast. Ew. Funniest and grossest experience of my life. haha Hna Martín was like, I have never ever ever had that happen in my mission before. hahaha

On to better news...Celia, our only investigator is progressing and we hope to have her baptized in 2 ish weeks. She is golden, but just has a lot of issues to get taken care of. The members are still Bomb. LOVE THEM! They are so awesome and we are working really hard with them to get references and get this work going. We are kinda in a rut and are trying to find people. Lots of praying and faith.

Updates on the BOM: So our mission is finishing up the BOM together and I was reading in 3 Ne 28:25-32 a lil while ago and had my MIND BLOWN!!! I love how there are three nephite apostles on the earth preaching to places that we cant get to....like CHINA!! YEAHHHH! So epic. I love this gospel. I get more and more excited to preach it every day. I love Almeria and I love my comp! And Spanish is FINALLY starting to pick up. YESSSS! I love you all! Have fun in Hawaii, family....Im so jealous haha have a great week!

love,

Happy St. Patrick's Day - March 18, 2013

Holita Familia!!!

I hope you all had an epic St. Patrick's Day!! I failed at wearing green because that is currently not a part of my missionary wardrobe haha. I need to buy some cute Spain skirts!! Anyways, GUESS WHAT...TRANSFERSSSSSS!! Woot woot!! And the big news IS....Hna Daly and Hna Martín stay in Almería and Hna Brimhall is going the Málaga to open up a new area AND to train a newbie that is from Madrid!!! CRAZY!! We all knew that I would be staying with Hna Martín though...so not a huge a surprise, but that is so cool about Hna Brimhall!!! She is going to own it up. Love that girl. She will do great things (She's the man quote). I am super super stoked to have my native companion all to myself :) I am now forced to only speak Spanish due to the lack of her English. Love it! Yet, I am scared out of my mind because we all know that I will be training or I will be the senior comp here in Almería for a few more transfers. This will be my home for the next 3-4 months. YEAH! I love it :) I feel comfortable about staying here and training the future 19yr old newbies. YEAHHHHH.

So this week was kinda a weirdy yet, super awesome. I traveled to Málaga all by my lonesome self and had a fiesta! It was super super fun. All of my peeps that came to Spain with me were all reunited at the Mission Home and it was a blast! I was sad that Hna Stark wasn't one of them...but that's ok! Hna Jarvis and I were the only sisters out of our huge group and we had a lot of fun together! I'm finally legit with my Spain ID! I was in the Mission Home for a night and we were fed super well and had some good times with our group and the Mission Pres' family. Love them!!! They are the greatest people on this planet.

After my wild trip to Málaga, I returned back to my Mamas haha aaaand we have some new investigators! Yayyyyy! Our bomb investigator, Celia, has a pretty set baptism date for the 23rd..this Saturday and we went over to teach her and SURPRISE, her cousin and his two sons were there!! So we were like, heck yes, lets teach these peeps. So, we were having a great lesson about the BOM and Celia was tearing up so much and just crying in the corner. I was like, umm I hope those are tears of joy...haha We then asked her to give the closing prayer and we all kneeled down and she just poured out her heart in the prayer. In the prayers she said that she was super grateful for us and that her cousin happened to be at her house so that we could teach him about the Gospel. She also said that she couldn't wait to be baptized and that she loves this Gospel so much. It was the sweetest prayer ever!!!!!!!! Us three left lesson on freaking cloud 9. We were like, "OH MY GOSH! That cousin and his sons are going to be baptized!!" We all had the same feeling that this family was super special. SCORE!! The Lord is blessing is SO MUCH! I think he knows that we are still recovering from our depression with our other golden investigators, Madeleeg and Jose, that disappeared and don't want to talk to us....This was such a tender mercy and we are so incredibly greatful!

Our other awesome family from Ecuador, Familia Almeida are still doing pretty good. Milton, the dad, came to church (like always) :) and of course Celia came to church. I LOVE CELIA! She looooves church haha She just sits there and has the biggest smile on her face the whole 3 hrs. AWWWW :) But yeat, Familia Almeida are progressing...ish haha The mom and dad are doing great...the kids are kinda like whatevs and aren't showing the biggest interest, but are still super nice!

Updates from the Calle (street): We are having suuuuch difficulties in trying to get more futuros from contacting! But, we have a funny rule. The rule is that you have to contact every single Chino (chinese person) you see. It doesn't matter how old they are, you have to contact them. So, awesome Hna Daly was just on the hunt to find a Chino and I saw one off in the distance and I though, "Yes, I am going to contact the heck out of this Chino." My comps were just chit chattin and I was just keeping the eyes on the prize. The China..(chinese girl)...was just passing me and I just stopped her and kinda freaked her out with my sneaky popping out skills and was like, "HOLA!!! Sup, we're a big deal, so listen"....ok not really, but I just presented us and she was like, "oh no, sorry, im buddhist..." She looked super frightened hahaha it was super funny, but I just gave her a card and gave a quicky testimony and moved on. It was fun :) Our plan is to baptize lots of Chinos and then that will be the starting point to baptizing China!! Yes!!

Well, here is the end to the epic trio...so sad. But, get ready for some work to get done with Martín and Daly in the HOUSE! OW! Have a great week, fam. I am so glad that everyone is doing great and being happy!! I read Utchdorf´s freaking awesome talk from this last conference about having no regrets and living life as happy as possible. LOVE IT! Be happy no matter your circumstances :) LOVE YOU GUYSSSSS!!!!!

Love love loooove,

EL SOL! - March 11, 2013

HOLA GUAPOS!!

Hey my beautiful family :) I miss you guys! But guess what, I freaking love Spain. AH SO MUCHHHHH!!!! I'm gonna move here and do missionary work the rest of my life, sound good? But seriously. So guess what happened....we did NOT have a baptism....(sad music)...but todo está bien! Ready for some funnny/what-the-heck stories? sweeeeeet

SO! We were supposed to have a baptism for our cute 10yr old Madeleeg and adorable 15yr old Jose. Welllll, Jose had to get permission from his mom and it turns out that she is super against it and then he kinda just started to avoid us and we havent seen him in like 10 days. Yeah. Super sad. THEN. Madeleeg....ohhhh my gosh haha. We go to her house the day before her baptism. It's like a 20 min bus ride to Aguadulce....ps, this place is GORGEOUS! My favorite place ever :) and we go to her house so we can get her baptism interview done and get her baptized. We go there and it's like hurricane class winds. OH MY HECK! HOLY WIND! EN SERIO! It was like knockin over trees and houses....kinda lol. We go to her house and there is no sign of her or her fam. We call like 10 times. No answer. We walked EVERYWHERE to try and find her in the hurricane wind. Then after like 20 mins of looking and calling, it's starts downpouring. Just raining like the world was going to end. We were like....wwhhhaaaat the heeeeck is goin on! We were semi laughing hysterically during all of this though, so no worries haha. We were just like, "how could this get any worse?" and then it just starts raining and blowing harder. It was the funniest night of my entire life. OH yeah, it was pitch black too. Quite the adventura, ey? hehe YEAH SPAIN STORMS! WOOOOO!

There ya go, no baptisms and we never found out what happened to Madeleeg and her fam. They never called. We just found out through some random person that they went out of town...greeaaat. We'll try to find them though and get in contact. Other than that we have had some awesome experiences with other investigators! Celia, our newer investigator, came to church!!! We were soooo shocked haha. We didnt expect to have anyone come and she totally did! She loved it and just loves learning more and accepted a baptism date...kinda. It's still kinda up in the air lol. She is also really rich, so she has a house maid that may also be interested in the Church. YAYYYY!

Let me just say that ANY success that we have had is all because of THE MEMBERS. The members are so so so soooooo key to everything. Celia was a from a member and through her we can easily baptize like 4 more people and then those 4 other people have famillies and friends too and the it ends up to baptizing the world. It just all begins with ONE MEMBER who gives us a referral and continues to work with us. So, members, HELP US! lol, all we are going is working with members. We are cutting back on contacting in the streets because it's ridiculous and you get like 1 person baptized out of contacting 300 people. Luckily the members here are BOMB! freakin love them.

The weather continues to get warmer and right now we are in Granada and I LOVE IT! Granada is SO PRETTY! We are gonna go hit up the Lambra...i think it's called...some 7 world wonder thingy...no big deal. I am then traveling to Malaga all by myself to the mission home to get my official spain ID. That'll been interesting to travel for 12 hrs round trip...alone. PARTYYYYY!!! haha love you guys!!! Thank you for all your love and letters and helping me through the hard times of the mish.

Keep on reading those scriptures and spreaing the Gospel. This life is about the gospel...not you...so get to work. hehe, did I sound like a legit missionary?? that was my goal lol but en serio, dooooo itttttt! blessings will just pour out on you! YEAH! Love you guys!

love,

Booooo...I hate rain!! - March 4, 2013

Ohhh heyyyyy, Daly Fam!

What up!! It is just raining non stop and super windy here in Almería!! Loving it...noooot :) It makes contacting people very difficult because lets face it, who wants to be stopped by 3 drop dead gorgeous missionaires in the rain...definitely not these people. They also think we are Jehova's witnesses and then they REALLY don't want to talk to us. Those JW's ruin everything! I'm sure they are super awesome people, but they make people run away from us. It's so sad :(

Well this Saturday the 9th we have TWO BAPTISMS!!! Madeleeg and Jose!!! Our adorable little 16yr old, Jose!! LOVE THIS KID! Freaking stud muffin. We were teaching him last week and invited him to be baptized and without hesitation he's all "Yes!!" and was smiling and being all cute and freaking studly like. Ah, he was super funny at the end of the lesson. We were finishing up and then we realized that we might've had to change his baptism date because he needed to go to church at least one more time. So we were like, "actually, Jose, we might have to change it to a later date because you need to come to church at least twice before being baptized..." He's all, "What? No! I went another time, it was like stake conference or something. I've gone twice, I swear!!" hahaha, he was so cute! He literally sounded like the world was going to end. Love him! It turned out that we didnt have to change his date, thank goodness!

Our wicked awesome Ecuadorian family that we've been teaching have been super good! But sad news!! Their son, Jordano 19 yrs old, he has been in the hospital all week for something that I still I dont understand...spanish medical terms are like chinese lol...so he's been in bad shape. We have visited him and his family at the hospital like 4 times and the Elders in our area gave him a blessing n everything. OOO FUNNY FUNNY STORY!! hehehe, so his mom, Carmen, is still super strict with her Catholic ways. So right before the Elders were about to give him the blessing she's all, "Wait, you arent going to baptize him are you??" her face was in straight up HORROR. hahaha we were all dying laughing. It was super funny yet super sad because she is deathly afraid we are going to force her to be baptize without her knowing it. Sigh. We're trying to gain her trust but she is really strong headed. We hope to get the rest of their fam with some baptism fechas!! Yeahhhh FECHAS! Hopefully will get them in white soon!!!!

We have a new investigator, Celia, and she is such a lost soul. Her story is so long....but her mom is super sick and our Elders gave the mom a blessing too...love our elders!! Aaand we kinda have a baptism date already set for Celia but it's super official. She is super cool but kinda has depression and anxiety issues. Hopefully she'll turn around soon and feel the awesome spirit of the Gospel!!

That about wraps up our week. Lots of visits to the hopsital. OH MY GOSH! I do not understand how Spain medical stuff works. It seems super frustrating and impossible to see a good doctor. We have been to like 3 doctors for Hermana Martín's ears and they just send us to another doctor and we wait another 8 hrs to see a doctor for 2 mins. Ridiculous. I hope I never have to see a doctor here in Spain haha.

Lessons learned this week: Singing hymns cures all!! Especially in spanish! Whenever our little trio is down or whatever, we just start singing random hymns or I just start singing one in my head and then all of sudden everything is so much better! I love this Gospel so much and I love how much I learn every day from the scriptures. Freak. Ammon is still my favorite person in the world in the book of mormon. STUD! All of Alma just rocks. YEAH! SCRIPTURES! Read em. Live em. Love em. Yes.

Love ya family!!!! I love all of the excitement that is happening in the family!! Especially with Vanessa's new baby boy!! Corbin!! SO CUTE! Love that name. I WANT PICS! I love you guys!!!!!!!!!!! Our family freaking rocks. Hombre, we are so cool ;) have a great week!!

LOVE;
Hermanita Daly
